Your checkout looks perfect.
From your country.
We scan it the way the world does: as shoppers from 59 markets. Forced foreign currency, hidden FX markups, missing local payment methods: the leaks you can't see from your own desk, each verified from inside the market, with screenshot proof when capture is on.
You only ever check out from one country. Your shoppers don't.
Stores geo-redirect and localise by IP, so the checkout you test at your own desk is not the one a shopper in São Paulo, Berlin or Osaka reaches. The leak is invisible precisely to the person who could fix it.
of cross-border shoppers abandon a checkout that
can't take their currency.
PYMNTS / Passport, 2025/26
The diagnosis is free. You pay for certainty, and for keeping it.
The whole diagnosis, nothing blurred
One neutral vantage point reads your cart and checkout against 59 markets, every price checked against the day's interbank rate. Every leak is named and the exact fix is included. But we saw it from one place, so every finding stays a candidate.
Candidates become proof
We reopen the same checkout from inside each affected market, through a residential connection there, and capture what a local shopper's browser receives: the currency, the price parity against the day rate, the shipping terms. What reproduces is verified. If nothing confirms, you pay nothing.
Because leaks reopen on their own
A PSP update can silently re-enable DCC; a theme deploy can drop your currency selector. Watch re-scans your markets every month and emails you the day a leak reopens, not at year-end.
9 ways a checkout quietly turns foreign shoppers away.
Hidden currency-conversion markup (DCC)
A “pay in your own currency” / “guaranteed exchange rate” dynamic-currency-conversion offer, whose markup the merchant usually never sees.
Stale / padded FX rate
A local price whose implied FX rate sits above the live mid-market rate by more than the reference feed's own noise floor (a pinned offline rate must clear a much wider band than a live one, because the pin itself drifts).
Checkout unreachable from inside the market
The same checkout page that loads from a neutral location answers HTTP 403 or 451 to a residential connection inside the market.
Forced foreign currency
The checkout only ever shows a foreign currency to a market's shoppers, with no way to switch.
Surprise duties & taxes at delivery
The checkout explicitly tells cross-border shoppers that import duties and taxes are their problem at delivery, the top stated reason for cross-border abandonment.
Tax-exclusive prices shown to a tax-inclusive market
Prices are displayed tax-EXCLUSIVE (“ex VAT”, “VAT not included”) to shoppers inside the store's own VAT area whose consumer law makes displayed prices tax-inclusive: in practice an EU store showing ex-VAT prices to another EU market, where that VAT really is added at checkout.
Store text refuses delivery to the market
A visible sentence on the cart or checkout page refuses delivery in scope terms (we do not ship internationally, we only ship within X, domestic orders only).
hreflang declares a market the checkout does not serve
The page declares an hreflang alternate for the shopper's market while the scan of that market only ever sees a foreign currency.
Missing dominant local payment method
The market's dominant local method (TWINT, Pix, iDEAL, UPI…) is absent from a page that really displays payment options.
Each detector's exact rules, guards and thresholds are public: read the methodology.
A report your developer can act on the same day.
Not a score and a shrug. Every finding is named, placed, priced on your own revenue, and followed by the exact setting to change on your platform, with a “done when” line so finished is checkable.
- Every market listed, leak by leak, with severity and confidence
- Numbered fix steps naming your platform's exact admin screen
- A work order to forward, plus PDF and CSV exports
- Screenshot proof on every verified finding
- 01Admin → Settings → Markets → select the market → Products and pricing.
- 02Enable “Show prices to customers in their local currency” and save.
The audit costs 89 CHF, once. A verified currency leak is modeled as a percentage uplift on your own cross-border revenue, so what closing one is worth depends on your numbers, not ours. The free scan tells you whether you have one before you pay anything.
Modeled floors on disclosed assumptions, not measured sales. Add your monthly revenue to the scan and it converts the uplift into your own figures.
- Every leak named, every market listed
- The exact fix for your platform, in full
- Full methodology disclosed
- We reopen your checkout from inside each market
- A screenshot of the page your shopper really gets
- Candidate becomes confirmed, or you pay nothing
- Monthly re-scan from inside every market
- Alert the day a leak reopens
- Because a PSP update silently re-enables DCC

Can't I just fix this myself?
The fixing, yes: it's a settings change, and the audit names the exact screen. What you can't do from your own desk is see the problem: your browser loads your store from your country, so the page a Brazilian shopper gets never reaches you. That's what the audit is: the checkout opened from inside each market, with the screenshot to prove what it showed, and a number attached to it so the fix can be prioritised against everything else in your backlog.
Do you check the actual exchange rate?
Yes, on every price. We read each price straight out of the page and compare it against the day's interbank (mid-market) rate from the live ECB feed. When we open your checkout from inside a market, we also report the price parity: what that market pays over your baseline once today's rate is stripped out. We state the number and the rate's source; whether a premium is strategy, duty inclusion or a stale table is yours to judge.
Is this AI?
No. The scanner is pure parsing plus interbank-rate arithmetic, deterministic and reproducible. Run it twice, get the same answer. Every figure is traceable to a disclosed assumption (full methodology).
Is every finding guaranteed?
No, and we say so on each one. A finding is a candidate until it's verified from inside the shopper's own market; only then does it carry a “verified” badge (with a screenshot when captured). We never sell a claim we can't show you.
How do you compute the loss?
Conservative conversion-uplift bands from published cross-border research (PYMNTS, Passport, PPRO, Mastercard/Visa), applied to your international revenue share, with diminishing returns and a hard cap. Presented as a floor (“at least $X”), never fake precision.
What do you scan, exactly?
Publicly accessible pages only: your cart/checkout as any shopper reaches it. Our bot identifies itself honestly (TideWallBot) and honours a per-host delay.
